Regular Elimination

According to Ayur Vedic principles, you should evacuate the bowels each morning.

If this isn’t happening each day, then you may have some trouble with constipation. By taking on some of the suggestions here, elimination should become more regular.

  • Drink 2 cups of warm water on arising in the morning, on an empty stomach. You can add a squeeze of lemon or lime juice if you wish.
  • Don’t skip breakfast!
    Start your day with a stewed apple or pear, cooked in water with 1 or 2 cloves, even if you don’t normally eat breakfast. If you are experiencing constipation, cook figs or prunes along with the apples.
  • Avoid heavy foods at the evening meal – foods such as potatoes, cheese and red meat.
  • Sip water often during the day – it should be warm or room temperature, never cold.
  • Eat meals at regular times each day, and relax while you eat. Not television or stressful conversations!
