Maharishi Vedic Health Practitioners' Association of Australia (MVHPAA) Incorporated is the Australian association for practitioners of Maharishi Vedic Health Care*. Maharishi Vedic Health Care is a prevention-oriented natural health care system that incorporates all 40 aspects of traditional Vedic Knowledge including Ayurveda. This ancient Vedic Knowledge, which was previously fragmented, has been fully restored in accord with the classical texts by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in collaboration with leading Vedic experts.

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, who introduced the Transcendental Meditation™ (TM) program to the West in the late 1950’s, is widely regarded as the foremost scientist in the field of consciousness. Maharishi explains that it is consciousness which is the missing element in health care. Disease starts, he says, when the nature of the Self as a silent, blissful field of pure consciousness is lost from the awareness (a phenomenon known as pragya-paradha in the Ayurvedic texts).

When our essential nature is forgotten, the superficial field of differences and change dominates our experience. Being lost to that awareness which unifies and connects the inner and the outer worlds, we become identified with fears, anxieties, constraints, frustrations, mistakes and problems which eventually manifest as physical disease. The solution to all health problems is to transcend the field of change and differences and re-identify with our underlying unchanging blissful nature through the practice of Transcendental Meditation. In this way the source of disease is eliminated and all other aspects of Maharishi Vedic Health Care are then more effective in restoring high level health and wellness.
